Ebi Ebi’s Idea of a Totem Pole

No witty story here.  Just Ebi being Ebi. Blu said “Get off!”

Evening Light

I was playing around with windlight settings, and ended up with this scene.

For a high-res tif version of a slightly different angle, click here.

For the windlight settings used in these, right-click and save this. Save and drop “EbisBedtime.xml” in your Program Files\Secondlife\app_settings\windlight\skies folder. It is a variant of “Sheer Surreality,” with the goofy radioactive-fallout-colored clouds modified to a more conventional color and movement.

A M-Mi-Minotaur

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

A few weeks ago, I went out exploring with Blu to a very spooky sim. While running around in the dark, we got trapped in a spider web, encountered a bear, got chased by wolves, and found a haunted shipwreck.

The scariest part of the adventure wasn’t the Minotaur himself, he appeared to be a perfect gentleman. Charming, even. The scariest part was when he offered me a rose. That’s when I screamed.

If you happen to be in or around Turing, and see large shadows circling around you, be thankful. Dragons rarely attack during the day. If however you are out for an evening stroll, and see this:

dragon psa

it’s best to be prepared. That’s why I never walk around without a Noob.  They might ask a lot of questions, but if you’re ever about to be swept up by a hungry fire-breathing dragon, shoving your Noob into harms way just might get you out of it. It is a steep price to pay, I know.  Do what I do and try to make the most of it. You won’t believe the strange stuff you can get them to wear.

I guess you had to be there

I don’t know what the hell was so funny, but Fluffy obviously got a kick out of it.

He better not have been laughing at me, I tell you. Mangy wolf.

Interview with an Alien

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Early one Turing morning, I happened upon a friendly gentleman named Allen. He was sitting at a bistro table in the park, enjoying his cup of morning java.  I must admit I could not contain my bafflement at his odd appearance, as our eyes soon met and he invited me to join him.

“Good morning, Sir Ebi,” he started. “Quaint place, this. Venture here often?”

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,” I replied.

He chuckled at my response. “Right enough. Outstanding job they’ve done here.”

“Eeeeeeeeeerrrrrrr,” I responded.

“My thoughts as well,” Allen answered. “Listen, I don’t mean to be a bother, but I’m looking for someone. Name of Weaver. Any thoughts?”

“Eieieieieieieeieieie,” I offered. “Eoooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.”

“Fair enough. Well, if you see her, tell her I’ve got a message for her from my boss. And she and that Ridley Scott fellow won’t like it one bit, I tell you.”

“Exactly,” Allen stated. “They had their fun, now the bills are due.”

“About right. Well then, I’m off, Sir Ebi. Afraid I’ve a flight to catch, so to speak.  I bid you good day.”

With that, Allen got up and turned away.  As he rounded the corner, he glanced back,  shook his head, turned forward again, and tripped over a fireplug.

How did I end up here?

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

So one day I decided to go see Kim Seifert sing. I don’t get out of Turing often, but one day I had zero friends online and decided to have a night out. I get to the place she’s playing, and enjoy about 5 minutes of song before her audiostream crashes.  So she finishes her show by having everyone sing together, in text, all 4 versus of Amazing Grace. By the end of the thing, she’s the only one still going ’cause most people only know the first verse.

She stayed and talked a bit with the crowd, and I tried to join in, but she either didn’t recognize me, or she did and thought I was a stalker or something. In any case, noone responded to any of my comments.  I felt disincluded so I left.

I walked around outside and found a little lagoon on the edge of the neighboring lot.  It looked a little out-of-place, so I decided to have a look, and threw myself in the water out of sheer boredom. I hit the bottom, and saw a door leading back underneath the land.

Chief Engineer Ebi Ebi

I opened it up and once inside, I found myself transported to the engineering section for a Sovereign class starship. I quickly took over the vessel.  Then, finding myself still alone, and still quite bored, I transported back to Turing. Without any help from Geordi, Scotty, or any other redshirt hack at the Cntl-Shift-H controls.

This is easily explained…

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

The infinite is possible at, as well as in SL. This scene is easy to explain if you know what to look for.

There are eight dogs. One of them is trying to revive Blu, three are watching Ebi closely, as if poised to attack. They don’t know why Blu is on the ground, but they assume Ebi had something to do with it.

The other 4 dogs are staring off in random directions, as if inexplicable noob parts will suddenly pop into existence and need to be greeted. This is a Pavlovian response triggered in part by Ebi’s presence.

Ebi has a left foot that requires a size 94 shoe, and is dressed like a not-quite-hetero Johnny Cash.

Another strange scene

Sandry is watching the whole scene trying to figure out what the hell is going on. The dragon on her shoulder (Miller) is visibly shaking his head and thinking, “again?”

Got it?

A Blu-tiful Sunrise

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Sandry and Blu came over for a visit one day. I had been taking pictures and was viewing the world in the moonlight for some lighting effects. When I returned to region defaults,  there was a typical Turing beautiful sunrise. And Sandry had just taught me how to use This was my second picture.
